Anthony Regelski Sr.

Well..........he did it.  In a little over a year, the big guy went from a "B" Class shooter to "Master Class".  Lots of hard work getting there, but I could not be happier for him.  Thanks so much for trusting me to help get you there, but honestly, I had little to do with it.  Tony did all the work..........and it really showed.  Congrats buddy......keep crushing them.

THE HITS JUST KEEP ON COMING!

Last Sunday at Mid Hudson Sporting Clay's, New Hampshire resident and student Grey Hagwood put on a show in the 5 Stand for the February Freeze tournament.  Grey went 46/50 while putting on a display  of perfect technique and gun management.  I was leaving the event, when I saw Grey in stand #1.  I said............"let me watch a little before I leave".
What I saw out of stand #1, was SPECTACULAR....10/10, so I decided to stay..........Grey then went 32/32 before a miss, and ending 46/50.  It was textbook on what I teach.  Perfect hold points, Perfect break points...........always on the target line.  It was butter on a 95 degree day.

Grey you made me proud, and just wish I had a video of what you did.  Glad you did not turn around and see my truck.......you might have dumped it all.  Great work buddy............it don't get much better than what I saw Sunday.

BOOK YOUR FALL UPLAND HUNTS TODAY

The weather is getting cooler....and it is time to start thinking about Upland Hunting.
Covid has changed the landscape of hunting.......and prime hunting dates are getting booked up as fast as I can type.  So, if you are thinking about an upland hunt.....DON'T WAIT UNTIL THE SNOW FLIES.  While I may be available.........shooting preserves are filling slots at a rate never seen before.........so I urge you to act today.  Prime dates are still available and the pups are raring to go.  Youngster Cayenne may be ready by late October, so Gingers son will be giving her a run for her money this season.  Give me a call today and let's get you out in the fresh air and chasing those "ditch chickens".

NEW FOR 2020..............LESSON HUNT.  Are you a shooter that has never hunted before but wants to try?  No problem, a lesson hunt is the perfect answer.  Take a shooting lesson before your hunt and learn safety, gun handling, field protocol, and of course improving your shooting.  We can even provide ammo and a firearm.  Give a call today and find out more details.  A lesson hunt is the best way to try upland hunting and feel comfortable about heading out into the field.

Brian Molloy turns it on at the Frozen 5

Brian Molloy had a FANTASTIC weekend in Vermont, as he shot an 86 and an 87 in Scarborough Fish and Game's Frozen 5 series, this one, 3 and 3.5.  In the first 100 Brian shot his 86, good enough for third place in class, and on the next 100 turned in an even better 87, for 2nd. place in class.  Brian got punches in both events.  Way to go Brian...I guess it pays to shoot on the frozen tundra.

Heading for Kansas today

Me, Judy and the girls are heading to Kansas today to guide injured Veterans on Upland Hunts at Ravenwood Lodge in Topeka.  The program is sponsored by Scott Linden Outdoors and Toyota, and for two days Veterans have the run of Ravenwood Lodge for Upland Hunts and Clay's.  I will be guiding with the girls and teaching Weds and Thursday of this week, so I am very excited.  I am honored to be a part of this program and feel that giving back is far more important that getting, and I am blessed to be able to do what I do on a daily basis, either with my dogs or out on the Clay's field.................and something like this allows me to give back through something I love, not just write a check.  I want to see what I do, help the lives of the people that allow me to hunt, teach, test my dogs, and live a free daily life.  I am not sure who gets more out of something like this, me, or the guys I take out in the field.  Pictures to follow

At a recent shoot at Addieville, John DelGigante hit the 90 mark for the first time in his shooting career in an NSCA registered event.  Congratulations to John for this wonderful
achievement.  Over the years John has worked harder than any other student to achieve success, and it is fantastic I can be a part of this milestone for this shooter from Danbury.  Well done John, and many more great scores are on the horizon.  Could not be prouder of you.

IF THESE STUDENTS KEEP THIS UP, GONNA NEED A BIGGER WEB SITE

HOLY CRAP...............what a weekend for Xcel Shooters.  Let's get to it:

LISA ROBERGE:  You killed it girl, a 77 in the Travelers Hard/Easy Championship Weekend Prelim.  Not only did you win your class,  you almost got your Hubby, trailing him by only 6 targets..........Can I be around the day you beat his butt.  Way to go girl.

FRED TUCCI..............Great job Doctor.  In the same shoot as Lisa, the good Dr.  took the "A" class by 3 targets.  Good shooting bud.

ROB FOOTE...............Across the boarder in Canadian Regionals, Rob Foote, a skeet shooter, and a newbie to sporting clays, shot a 77 after the first day and was leading his class.  A tough 2nd day left him in 5th place, but a GREAT showing for the skeet guy, turned Sporing shooter.

ANTHONY REGELSKI:  At Hudson Farm, the 18 year old sharpshooter turned in a SCORCHING 96 to lead all shooters in an even held this Thursday.  Anthony turned in a respectable 87 in the Travelers Championship, which he was a little disappointed in, but hey............there were at least 100 other shoots that would have loved to have had that score.

LAST BUT NOT LEAST...................

JEFF (GIGANTOR) HUNTER:  Shot a BLAZING 90, just getting edged out of HOA for the AA class at the Travelers Championship tournament.  This was a wonderful day for the "Big Man" who has been working up to this day all season.  Next in the cross hairs is the Conn. State Shoot in Aug.  WATCH OUT AA SHOOTERS, THE BIG MAN IS COMIN!

IT MUST BE A WEEKEND, MORE GREAT SCORES BY XCEL STUDENTS

OK............Where do I start;  At the Mass. State Shoot Prelim, John DelGigante shot a sterling 83, taking the "B" class and earning a punch.  Great work John.  At the Ryan McElroy Children's Cancer Foundation Shoot, the Xcel Team of Anthony Regelski Sr., Anthony Regelski Jr., Ed Davies, Jeff Hunter, and Tom.........beat two strong teams from Mid Hudson Sporting Clay's and Mashomack Preserve, by a slim margin to take the shoot title.  A best score ever by Anthony Sr., of 85 and a 1 off HOA by Jr. of 92, made this father/son team a force not to be taken lightly.  Add in Jeff and Ed's 84's and it was a great day all around.

Who knows who will be next to move up in class, earn a punch, or shoot a best ever score.  Join these happy shooters breaking more clay's and having more fun..............call today

This weekends shoot at Mid Hudson Sporting Clays, hosted by the Conn. Travelers, hailed a number of class wins for Xcel Students, in both the morning and afternoon events .  Super kid Anthony Regelski continued his hot streak with an 88 and 90 in Master class, coming in just off the top in both sessions.  Jack Hudak.................took both morning and afternoon "C" classes for an outstanding Sunday, and John DelGigante, shooting with Tom's MX2000 Perazzi took "B" class in the afternoon.  (Maybe John should leave the Beretta broken)  What a great day for these shooters.....................................Congratulations and well done.

Blondes do REALLY have more fun

That saying was never more true this week, as Lisa Roberge had two fantastic outings in winner her class twice at the Craribbian Classic in Florida. Lisa won her E class twice, but in doing so, shot well enough to be ranked with the top ladies at the shoot.  Lisa earned punches in winning the 12ga. and 20ga.  classes.  WAY TO GO LISA!  Now she can come back to the East and show those other Grits ladies............HAVING MORE FUN IS BREAKING MORE TARGETS.  My heartfelt congratulations to Lisa................watch out Doug, just a matter of time!

REGELSKI SMOKES THEM ALL AT TRAVELERS SHOOT

108 Shooters showed up at the Travelers Mid Winter Martyrdom at Mid Hudson Sporting Clay's this past Sunday.  After the smoke cleared, 17 year old Anthony Regelski bettered 107 of them, one of them being his coach, on his way to a stellar 93.  The HOA by the 17 year old standout, capped an outstanding round, and his only comment to me was, "I could not let you beat me".
Congrats to Anthony for another standout performance behind the gun.

ANOTHER GREAT WEEKEND FOR STUDENTS!

A couple more tournaments, and a few more placements for Xcel students.  At the Conn. Travelers Shoot at Mid Hudson Sporting Clays, both John DelGigante and Jack Hudak rose to the 80+ mark with John taking the B class with an 84, and Jack taking the C class with an 86.  Great shooting against a field of over 70 shooters.  At the same shoot, Lisa Roberge finally could see the targets after a visit to Dr. Colo, and came in 3rd in E class with a very respectable 69.  Next stop mid 70's for this gal.
At M & M, at the Thanksgiving Shootout, Tom Millham won the class B FITASC with a score of 83.  Nice Job Tom.

Another great weekend for Xcel students.  Time for you to join that group.  Give Tom a call today.

THE WEATHER IS GETTING COOL, BUT THE SHOOTERS ARE HOT

Another week, and another bunch of great scores from the students.  OK............where do we start.  At the Conn. State Sporting Clay Championships, In the Main, Jack Hudak, posted a 3rd place finish in the Main, while in Super Sporting, Tom Millham garnered a 3rd. place finish in class "B", while John DelGigante shot a blistering 84 to take the class "C" championship.

At the NEK Skeet and Sporting Club in Vermont, the NSCA Ducks Unlimited shoot was held, and boy, did we clean up.  FROM "B" CLASS, Brian (no way) Molloy, tied for 2nd. overall with a stellar 92, while Grey Hagwood topped the "A" class shooting a very nice score of 84.

Grey said it best in an email he just sent to me.  He said, I AM NOW HAVING FUN, AND THAT HELPS SCORES, AND I HAVE COME TO REALIZE IT'S A PROCESS, (LIKE YOU TAUGHT ME).  FOCUS ON THE PROCESS AND THE SCORE TAKES CARE OF ITSELF"

I could not have said it better, and I am sure all these shooters could not agree with Grey more.   When are YOU going to pick up the phone and start on the road to better scores and more fun?????

THE "BIG MAN" JEFF HUNTER, LIGHTS IT UP AT TRAVELERS SHOOT

Jeff Hunter, the Big Guy from Wilton, Conn., proved that shotgun with a stock that goes on forever, can do some damage when it is pointed in the right direction.  Jeff won his class at the Double Taxation Conn. Travelers shoot at Dover Furnace Shooting Grounds this past weekend.  Jeff shot an 85, which was a truly outstanding score ranking him with the Big Dogs of the day, only 4 targets behind the HOA on a very stiff Dover track.  Jeff even won back 1 of his dollars as he broke 3 targets of a midi coming off the mountain on station 14.  Honestly, for that score, I should give back all of his dollars..................he really deserves it.  Congratulations to Jeff.  Jeff shot as large as his stature this day, and I am really really proud of his accomplishment.  Now............did you just tell me  you were really not into shooting yet?  Can't wait to see the score when you get your mind straight.  Oh, and by the way........Jeff also shot 81 at Ten Mile River, scoring 166 for the shoot...............way up at the top of the 134 shooters.  Did I mention he said he was not really into shooting yet????

Brooke Wakefoose won yet another tournament this weekend as she took the ladies division of the Ilion Fish and Games Spring Fling Tournament.  16 year old Brooke took the ladies division with a score of 81 in this 50 report targets and 50 true tournament.  What makes it more spectacular is Brooke did it with a loaner gun after her gun broke on the first station.  In the report pair part Brooke shot 47/50, and 34/50 in the true pair section.....all with a gun that did not fit her.  Just goes to show what mental toughness will do for you.  Great job Brooke

IRA CONKLIN JR. LIGHTS IT UP AT "BIG SEAFOOD BLAST"

Student Ira Conklin distinguished himself this weekend with an outstanding showing at the "Big Seafood Blast" at M & M Sporting Clays and Preserve in New Jersey this weekend.  Young Mr. Conklin won his "D" class in the Seafood main with an outstanding 86, as he garnered a new Beretta A300 Shotgun.  In fact, Ira's 86 placed him in the upper 10% of the entire shoot, as his 86 was good enough for a 45th place out of 424 shooters.  Not to shabby for a 15 year old. In FITASC, Ira again won his "D" Class with an OUTSTANDING score of 81.  If anyone has shot FITASC before, you know how good a score that is.  That score bested shooters many times his age and experience.
Congratulations to Ira, and also his Dad, who also had a very good weekend in both FITASC and Sporting Main's.  Keep up the good shooting Ira.

THE SPICE GIRLS ARE HERE

Check out the new photo's of T & J's Oklahoma Ginger, the newest "spice girl" to be hopefully hunting along with her cousins "Sugar & Netmeg" next fall.  Hope to have her home by early April.  Pup is from Rick Affuso's outstanding litter out of his Brits, Cody and Oak.  We are breaking away from the "Liver" mold with an orange Brit, hopefully she will be on the darker side.  No matter what color, no birds will get away from that slick chick once she starts roaming the fields next fall.

WONDER KIDS DO IT AGAIN AT SCOTT EARL CARLTON SHOOT

Well, it was both a sad day and a great day all at once.  The sad part is the geriatric duo of Ira Conklin Sr, and Tom, got spanked by students Ira Conklin Jr, and Brooke Wakefoose, in-route to the kids taking 2nd and 3rd place respectively at the recent Benefit shoot at Dover Furnace.
Little Ira coined the pair, "The dynamic duo" before the shoot, and they sure showed why that name was right on the money.  Ira Jr. turned in a score of 94, good for 2nd place, and Brooke was close behind with a 91.  Both scores are personal bests for both kids.  Tom and Ira Sr. are now looking for lessons and Geritol in order to be able to keep up with these two kids.

It is with great pride and satisfaction to see both these kids shoot so well.  I know Ira Sr. was beaming ear to ear, and I was so pleased, I could have cared less as to what I shot.........except I will be hearing it from these two for some time to come, and I'm sure Ira Sr. will be also.

Again....................congratulations both Ira and Brooke.  You made us very proud yesterday
Keep up the great shooting.

Keep up the great work guys................it just gets better and better

Ira Conklin, Brooke Wakefoose, and Xcel Team All Score Awards

Congratulations are in order for 16 year old standout Brooke Wakefoose as she took 2nd. place in the Jr. Division of the recent Wounded Warrior Shoot at Vernon National Shooting Preserve, in Vernon, NY.  15 Year Old Ira Conklin recently garnered honors at the Empire Cup, at Mid County Rod and Gun Club, In LaGrangeville, NY.  Ira took top honors winning the "D" Class as well as winning the Sub Jr. class over a very tough course that had some notable local adult shooters pulling their hair out.  His score of 74 was outstanding considering the level of the targets he faced.  Best of Luck to both Brooke and Ira, as Brooke heads to the SCTP Pennsylvania State Championships this weekend, and Ira heads to the Jr. U.S. Open in South Carolina in two weeks. Keep the great shooting going.............

In other news, Team Xcel were the team champions of the Ryan McElroy Children's Cancer Foundation Shoot at TMT Shooting Preserve in Staatsburgh, NY.  Tom, Ira Conklin Sr., Howard Berman, George Federoff, and Gary Taylor smoked the field to win the title.  Congrats of everyone.  Tom's score of 91 led the squad.  Check for a picture of the crew in the gallery.

MORE GREAT STUDENT NEWS

CONGRATULATIONS are in order for the following students:

Howard Breman was named honorary captain of Team USA who will compete in the World Championships in England this month.  Howard will shoot in England and we all wish him the best while over there.  Shoot well Howard.

On the home front......................Super kids Brooke Wakefoose and Ira Conklin are warming up for the competitive season with a couple of great finishes recently.  Brooke won the ladies div of a recent shoot in Ilion, NY, at the Ilion Fish and Game club, and took 3rd place in the Jr. Div. at the recent Conn. Travelers Shoot at Ten Mile River Preserve.  Ira placed very well at the Big Seafood Blast, at M & M a few weeks ago, placing 3rd. in the Jr. Div., and Sunday he placed 2nd in the Jr. Div of the same Travelers Shoot that Brooke placed in.

Way to go......................and it is only April

HOWARD BERMAN HOT AT GAMALIEL CUP

Howard Berman worked through some early problems shooting a 47/50 in the 12ga event, and an 89/100 in the last 100 of the main event at the Gamaliel Cup.  To give you an idea of how well Howard shot, his 89 was good enough to beat Bobby Fowler, Andy Duffy, and Jon Wooley, just to name a few  of the "Big Guns" that he bested.  Congratulations to Howard................he has really put up some fine scores to start the season, and the best is yet to come for Howard as the weather heats up, and his Perazzi gets even hotter.  Well done Howard.

Also Congratulations go out to Ira Conklin, (they younger of the two Conklins), as Ira posted a score of 72 at the Big Seafood Blast at M & M this weekend.  Ira came in 4th in Sub Jr., and 12th in "D" class at the shoot.  For the first shoot of the 2014 season, this is a great accomplishment for Ira.....and he is looking forward to a great competitive season ahead of him.  Way to go Ira.

KNEE HEALING.........BACK TO TEACHING

Well it has been 8 weeks now...........and my knee is finally feeling like it is on the mend.  I can walk without the brace..............though I have to keep it on until the 27th of this month, and my quad is strong enough to support all it is supposed to support.  Still cannot drive........but hopefully, by the time the brace is off.....................I WILL BE ON THE ROAD AGAIN.  I hope to have my teaching academy up and running by the first week of April..........depending on my knee, and back to teaching at Mid Hudson and Dover,  as you read this.  One note...........on April 5th and 6th.  I will be teaching all day at Mid Hudson Sporting Clays.  I have a 9:00 slot available on April 5th for a two hour lesson.  Anyone looking for a lesson that weekend, that is my only time slot open.........so you better book fast.

Thanks to everyone who has called, stopped over, transported me, and helped out during my surgery.  It is not 100% yet, but without people like Rick Affuso, Howard Berman, Jack Shawnassy, Mark and Brooke Wakefoose, Bob Lockett and bunch of others, I would have never made it through without going NUTZ.  The time you took to call, transport, invite, and much more was very special to me, and will never be forgotten.  Can't thank you enough.  Maybe before the weather turns really nice, I will get to drive my new Teryx4.  I will put some pictures on the site soon.

LEG GETTING BETTER--PT STINKS

Well...........the knee continues to improve each day, and I am back to teaching as of April 1st., so anyone wanting a lesson, I will begin to schedule after that date.  Not anywhere near 100% yet...at least a month or so from that, but at least teaching and getting more and more mobile by the day.  HURRY UP GOOD WEATHER..............................   Oh by the way..................PT is just a wonderful experience.  I recommend it to anyone with any kind of masochistic tendencies.  I believe the Marquis DeSade, Atillah the Hun, and Ivan the Terrible, all got PT degrees before they were able to torture anyone.

I AM BACK IN ACTION

Today, I taught my first lesson in 8 weeks......................IT WAS FANTASTIC.  So, I am back in action based on weather and still not being able to drive.  If the weather is good, I can teach without a problem, but still have to be careful on ice and slippery surfaces........but man is it great to be back out on the course..................YA HOO!!!!!!!

PHEASANT FEST AND THE KNEE

Well, first Pheasant Fest......it was a great event, and I have to give huge props to my wife Judy and my buddy Gary, and Lou from Galazan's,  for all they did for me during the trip out and back, and the event. I could not have done anything I did out there without them.   I spoke  to over a 1000 people total including the SCTP group and the adults at Pheasant Fest.  I met some great people such as Dave Miller, from CZ USA, Brett Moyes, Director of the NSCA, Niki, Publicity Director of the NSCA, Doug Turnbull, of Turnbull Manufacturing, and many many more.  My hat is off to the guys at Pheasant Fest for a great show, and God willing they will ask me back next year to speak.

My knee is healing, and have to go back to the Doc's this week.  When the brace is right I can walk anywhere.  When it is not...................PAIN.  Hoping to get a less restrictive brace this week, and start PT..............OH JOY!, but it is a way back........so I am all for it.  If I can get a little less restrictive brace, I can go back to teaching and start to drive again.  Maybe with all this snow, God is telling me to take it easy for a while, because you will be busy when the snow melts..................hope so, but until then............I just limp along, and give Judy 15 more things to do each day.

SURGERY

Well.......had surgery on Weds., and all went well.  Great drugs, no pain, and got home safe and sound thanks to my wife Judy, and my buddy, Rick Affuso.  The next three days were uneventful, with pain, and getting used to the new brace, and three days riding the EZ-Chair.  I got up today......my goal was to be up on crutches by Super Bowl Sunday...........and it met it.  My next goal is to be back teaching by next weekend.................Working hard so that happens.
Got to see Doc. on Thursday of this week....so I am hopeful stitches will come out, and I will get a good bil of health to start rehab.  I will keep you posted as I crawl along here.......but all looks good, and I should be 100% back by spring.

Tom  Thanks for everyone's good wishes and prayers.

OUT OF ACTION FOR 4-6 WEEKS

Hi everyone.  Well, after having fallen on ice, I now find I am facing surgery on my right knee for a torn quad tendon.  Looks like for me instead of frequenting the clay target courses, I will be riding my couch and living room chair for the next month plus.  If any one wants lessons during this time, I will be checking my email, (like I will have anything else to do) I can set you up with another instructor in the area.   My goal is to be back teaching by March 15th, but only God and my Dr. will know for sure.  Drop me a line when  you can, I would enjoy hearing from everyone.

See you soon

TAKE A "SHOTKAM" LESSON

They say when you retire if you stop doing things..................you just stop, if you know what I mean.  Well, I don't plan on stopping any time soon, so for 2014 I am going to introduce.........."The ShotKam".  Many times I have had students tell me they were not sure where they were OR were 100% sure of where they were.......and the target did not break.  Now you will be able to pull the trigger, and see EXACTLY where you are on the computer screen in the Ranger.  I will be setting up SHOTKAM lessons in the spring for those students desiring them.  SHOTKAM lessons will be the same price as regular lessons, but they will be 3 hours in length to allow for viewing the SHOTKAM, and not deminishing trigger time.  Call me today to discuss your SHOTKAM lesson

SPECIAL CHRISTMAS

Yesterday I received an email from a local on line Auction company.  In the email was the usual auction stuff, but one thing caught my eye........."Wholesale Toy Auction".  WOW........would that make a bunch of kids happy for Christmas.  Well, I am now bidding on 4-5 pallets of toys from this auction house to make a few more needy kids happy this Christmas.............and the card will read............."The students of Xcel Sporting Clay Instruction"......all of you made this happen, now you just need to cross your fingers I can win the bidding.  All of you give me so much each time you break a target, shoot well in a tournament, or just grin from ear to ear when you do something with that shotgun you never thought possible........now I get to give something back................for you.  So keep  your fingers crossed............I may even be calling some of you to help me.......................4-5 pallets of toys is a bunch of toys, so don't hang up if I call.  I WILL NEED A BUNCH OF ELVES TO TAKE CARE OF THAT MANY TOYS.  (No Santa fat jokes either)  I will keep you posted..........the auction ends Sunday Nov. 24th, at 7:30 est.

"SHOOTING CLINICS A HIT"

Over the past year Xcel has developed a series of clay target clinics, and have debuted them at a number of clubs in the area and northeast.  WELL THEY ARE A SMASH HIT.  Shooters have raved about the level of instruction, content, and value, so for 2014 we are doing more of them.  We are now developing Novice, Ladies/youth, and Advanced shooters clinics.  Look at the schedule of events to find out where these clinics will be held, and what clinics will be offered.  These clinics offer real value for anyone wanting to improve their shooting, or begin finding out what the clay target sports are all about.  For additional information on any our our clinics, locations, or schedule, please feel free to email or call me.  2014 looks to be a fantastic year, and it would be our pleasure to welcome the new year with a few more broken targets on your score card.  WITH THE HOLIDAYS COMING UP..............GIVE THE GIFT OF A FEW MORE TARGETS ON YOUR SHOT GUNNERS CARD, WITH A GIFT OF A CLINIC OR LESSON.  CALL TODAY, AND WE WILL GET A CERTIFICATE OUT TO YOU........

NUTMEG READY TO GO.........

WOW..........................................it has been a tough couple of months trying to get Meg ready for the upcoming hunting season.................but I think she has finally got it.  Over the past week or so, I have had her over a ton of chuker and hens, and the little squirt has done a great job.  This to the dismay of her mother Sugar who screams to high heaven when I take Meg out of the create, and leave her in there.  This 30lb ball of fire is proving she has the hard nosed attitude of her Mother Sugar, and the personality of her father Benny.  Book a hunt now and experience what these pint sized dogs can do in the field.

TOM NOW A MEMBER OF THE BRITISH GUILD

It is with a great sense of pride and accomplishment, that as of September 3, 2013, Tom has been admitted for membership to the British Guild of Shooting Instructors.  In June of this year, Mr. Peter Harris, of the Guild, evaluated Tom while he was in the U.S..  After that evaluation, Mr. Harris returned to England, reviewed the qualifications with the other Guild Selection board members, and formal admittance into the Guild was offered this week.  The Guild is one of the Worlds foremost clays and wing shooting instructor organizations.  The instructor standards are very high, and only 6 instructors in the United States have been awarded membership.  I am both humbled and excited at the same time, and look forward to working with other Guild Members, both in the U.S. and overseas to foster excellence in clays in wing shooting instruction.  This is an honor I will cherish for the rest of my life.

BROOKE NOW GIVING LESSONS

Well it finally happened............super kid Brooke Wakefoose has now decided to give shooting lessons instead of taking them.  At the Final Flight shoot at Whitetail Preserve on Sunday.  Brooke twirled a super score of 89........taking the ladies title, while her coach, Tom, scored an 88 to take the high male award.  Since Brooke kicked Tom's butt............he has now scheduled a series of lessons with her in the hopes of improving his shooting.  Anyone wanting a lesson from Brooke can either .............try to take her on, on the sporting course, (at your own risk), or book a lesson with her and find out what she knows that Tom does not..........(and most likely will not tell him)

ANOTHER SHOOT....MORE HARDWARE FOR BROOKE

Super Kid............Brooke Wakefoose ventured north this weekend to Clinton Fish and Game Clubs annual Boy Scout Benefit Shoot.  15 year old Brooke took home top honors in Lady and "B" Class.  Not to shabby for a young lady that has been shooting less than a year.  Brooke will now be representing Thomas Ferney Shotguns and Acc. for the upcoming 2014 shotgun season.  Keep an eye for this young lady...........she is on her way

BROOKE TAKES TWO THIRD PLACES

Rising shooting star Brooke Wakefoose recently took home 2-3rd. place medals at the North Carolina Clays Shoot, at Primland, Meadows of Dan, Virginia.  Brooke had a great tournament taking places in both Ladies and Jr. Shooter ranks.  A couple of targets more and Brooke would have won both titles.  Not bad for a young lady that has been shooting less than 8 months.  Way to go Brookster......................In her first year of competition, she won the Youth Div at the Wounded Warrior Shoot, at Vernon National, her SCTP came in 2nd at the Penn. State SCTP shoot, and now these medal.  Brooke will also be representing Thomas Ferney Shotguns in the coming season...........so look for more great things from Brooke in the months to come.

WHERE DO I START..........

WOW...........................This has been some whirlwind of a few weeks.  I am behind on everything...........so here goes.

                                1.  The Wounded Warrior Shoot at Vernon National was  huge success.  The weather held out............and everything was great.  I was so pumped up, I lost 7 targets out of 14 on the first two stations I shot, before I came down to earth........lost 6 more targets on the next 12 stations and shot a very respectable 87, coming in 3rd. by two targets.  We made a good amount of money for the Therapy Pool at Ft. Drum, and weather you shot 87 or 7 did not make a difference.  The cause was the reason to be there, not your score.  108 shooters enjoyed a great day.
                                 2.  The Paragon Clays Clinic at Guarino Farms was nothing short of SPECTACULAR this past weekend.  30 Shooters over two days enjoyed the best of everything.  Food, targets and Instruction.  The feed back from the shooters was either Excellent or Fantastic on all of our evaluations..........and another clinic will be scheduled for the Fall.  In July Guarino Farms will be hosting a "Target Reading" Clinic, with a date to be announced.  I will be hosting and teaching the clinic, with only 5 shooters per day allowed.  Once the date is announced...............if you are interested, I would not wait long to  register.  If you are interested.............email me, and I will email you the date we announce the details.
                                 3.  My Teaching Academy at Guarino Farms is Open, and I have been actively teaching there.  It is an OUTSTANDING facility to learn at.  I can throw targets up to 60 yards or more.and every presentation is there to test you.  Newbie or seasoned shooter having problems with a specific target.  THIS IS THE PLACE TO GO.  No more lesson interruptions from shooters using a course.............no more searching for the target that gives you fits.........or having shoot with people watching you as a newbie.  Schedule a lesson..........the facility and my attention is all yours.  Give me a call and I would be glad to show you the course and teaching facility.  It is the only dedicated teaching facility in New York State.........set up with 6 shooting boxes at various angles to the traps, and 8 traps, throwing every target you can imagine.....from Rabbits to teals, Crossing to Chondelles..................AND A 30' TOWER.  Book a lesson today and find out just how good you really can be.

Well that is about it................all up to date.  See you on the course

THE TEACHING ACADENY AT GUARINO FARMS

In a few weeks the area's first dedicated Clays and Wing Shooting Teaching facility will soon be open.  Guarino Farm's in Marlboro, NY has enlisted Tom Fiumarello to help design and head the new Clays teaching facility.  The facility will be equipped with 6 new Mattarelli Trap Machines, a 30' Tower, a Promatic Flurry machine, and five teaching stations, allowing angles on all types of targets to be changed without moving any traps.  Crossing, Teal, Chondelle, Rabbit, and Quartering Targets will be constantly set up, as well as a tower shot, to allow teaching and practice on any presentation a shooter may need help with.  The "Huntsman" by Promatic, can duplicate those tough grouse, or quail shots you have been missing, and will prove to be invaluable to the wing shooter wanting to improve his or her game.

Guarino Farms also features a 10 station Sporting Clays course, as well as trout ponds, picnic area, dog training facility, pool and club house, for the St. Hubert's club private facility, which is on the grounds.  Two bed and breakfasts as well as, meeting and dining rooms are available to rent.  Alan and Kathy Guarino invite you to come and view this beautiful upscale facility, in the heart of Hudson Valley apple country.

To schedule a lesson, or to view and tour this beautiful facility call Kathy at 914-474-8996
or you may contact Tom directly.  We anticipate the facility to be ready to teach, on or before April 15th, 2013.  I will keep you posted

PHEASANT FEST

Well...............I am back from Pheasant Fest, (say that three times quickly), and it was PHANTASTIC.............to say the least.  The Wing Shooting Seminars were filled to capacity, with a lot of laughs and plenty of info.  So much so, after each seminar I spent almost an hour afterwards answering questions in the hallway.  It was great.  I also had the opportunity to address the SCTP kids and their parents.  That was very rewarding the the talk was entitled, "Time for a little Respect and Responsibility".  It was very well received, and I will try and get it up on my site................but don't be hopeful, I barely can write on this thing.  Well, good weather is right around the corner, so all of you dust off that shotgun, and get to breaking some clays.................see ya soon.

PHEASANT FEST 2013 is scheduled for Feb. 15,16, & 17, 2013, In Minneapolis, Minn, and Pheasants Forever, the sponsoring organization, has asked Tom to speak on Wing Shooting at it's annual event.  They have asked Tom to do two seminars per day, on each of the days of Pheasant Fest.  The annual gathering of over 50,000 upland bird hunters, is the organizations premiere event, and it is quite an honor to be asked to be part of this.  Tom will also be speaking to a number of SCTP Youth Scholastic Shooting Teams that will be attending the event.  Now if he does not get stranded in 10' of snow while he is out there, things should go very well.  Let you know how it goes when I get back.............I am excited as could be to be part of the festivities.

SUGAR HAD HER PUPS

Our Brittany Sugar had a wonderful litter of pups in May, and they are just about ready to go.  I have selected a male to keep, and start working for this hunting season, but I really don't see him getting much time out because of his age, but I will get him over birds in the coming months.  All 8 pups have been spoken for, and we are looking forward to a great hunting season in the fall and winter
